Review/album «Manifest» Amaranthe

The Swedes of Amaranthe bring us quality in this new album titled «Manifest», which was released last October 2nd through the label Nuclear Blast Records, although it is true that the band has climbed the highest, trying different sounds without leaving that essence that has seen them catapulted within their own genre.

With album in hand we will give an extensive tour to those 12 songs, showing in part those collaborations and big surprises that the band brings us with this material. A great auditory proposal that will make us enter fully into the manifesto.

The album begins with energy with «Fearless», this song brings powerful riffs that are mixed with that electro dance that has characterized the band. All the ingredients in one song, the voices complement each other to perfection, an auditory exquisiteness, catchy chorus that gives the consistency to this theme.

Next comes «Make It Better», it is here where the decibels are lowered a little, the band manages to surprise us with totally different nuances, you hook easily in the chorus, very appealing at first listen.

We move on with «Scream My Name», where Henrik Englund’s gutturals blow our minds, to tell the truth this cut is totally brutal, leaving us with a good taste in our mouth, hard moments between guitars and drums, which make the perfect complement.

«Viral» is the fourth single of this album, which has become part of us, a good distribution of lyrics, performance that contributes to perfection in this video clip, the chorus is totally catchy «Going Up, Going Viral», it hooks you easily.

We go into the classic, within a totally different framework comes «Adrenaline», a song that makes the hair stand on end.

Then we continue with «Strong», with the collaboration of Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast), who intertwines vocally with Elize Ryd, giving us a perfect duet. In mid-tempo we can find powerful riffs, the lyric is vindicated in this theme, giving it something more personal, the concept is totally solid, highlighting in itself one of the best songs of this album.

We continue with «The Game» clearly the sound opens to first listens, defined structures, the impact that generates Amaranthe is impressive.

It’s time to relax with «Crystalline», a wonderful ballad, where Elize Ryd gives free rein to this great interpretation, well defined nuances, each note makes your skin crawl. Nils Molin also adds to the protagonism in this song, both voices complement each other perfectly.

«Archangel» is another of the singles that arrives with quite a lot of energy, its powerful sound is the perfect overdose to raise the spirits, as I say it is a «dead lifter». Without a doubt I would repeat my plate with this song.

We continue with «BOOM!1», a song completely out of line, we can find Henrik at the controls of this single, between Metal-Rap that defines Amaranthe thematically. While it is true, the band has explored the unexplorable, they have surpassed themselves by far, the chorus is totally to the listener’s taste.
This song is polished to details, it is worth mentioning Elize’s guttural, a brutality to say the least.

To finish sounds a powerful «Wake Up And Die», determined chords, well highlighted lines, detailed structures, we can’t forget the great mid-tempo guitar solo in this single. «Do or Die» closes this album with a flourish, with the spectacular collaboration of Angela Gossow (Ex Arch Enemy), who has given life to this apocalyptic single, we can’t forget that the videoclip was recorded in Spain.

Nils Molin is at ease climbing new horizons, giving rise to his voice, his presence is infinite, on the other hand we have Olof Mörk, who has explored new sounds, attracting an amalgam within what is Modern Metal.

This is a record whose ambition makes them emerge both aurally and visually, without losing that essence of the band. The balance is one of the main points of Amaranthe, keeping in line with their creations.
