Placebo premiere cover of Tears For Fears classic ‘Shout’. UK/Europe headline tour starts in October

Placebo today share «Shout», a cover of the iconic Tears For Fears track. ‘Shout’ – included on Tears For Fears’ album «Songs From The Big Chair» – which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1985 and joins a rich lineage of 80s tracks covered by Placebo. Artists such as Sinead O’Connor (‘Jackie’), The Smiths (‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’), The Pixies (‘Where Is My Mind?’) and most famously Kate Bush (‘Running Up That Hill’) have all been covered by the band.

In this latest Placebo song, ‘Shout’ becomes a haunting industrial march. Given that the song’s original composer, Roland Orzabal, has said that ‘Shout’ is a political protest, it is also the perfect follow-up to Placebo’s last album, Never Let Me Go, which was notable for its themes of technological saturation, rising intolerance and the climate crisis.
